Blundstone starts building new factory and head office in Hobart
Blundstone has obtained local government approval to build its new factory and head office located next door to its current facility in Moonah, a suburb of Hobart – the capital city of Australia’s island State of Tasmania.
The building will house Blundstone’s research and design centre as well as capacity to manufacture 400,000 pairs of boots per annum. Its corporate headquarters will also be housed there. Given the Company’s growth, provision has been built into the facility for staff expansion.
Blundstone has operated out of Hobart since its foundation in 1870. This commits the operation to being there to well past 2040.
Groundwork has already commenced and building work will start in earnest in February 2012. The plan is that the building will be complete by August 2012 with the operation to shift across before the end of 2012.
